Professor Olivier Rubel is fascinated by two related questions: How can firms make better marketing decisions in highly competitive environments? And what are the optimal strategies for implementing these decisions over time?

His research examines how companies can best determine and allocate resources to marketing activities, most recently studying B2B sales and marketing gaps and how blood banks recruit donors. He teaches in the UC Davis Graduate School of Management's MBA and Master of Science in Business Analytics programs, and voted by students as Professor of Year in 2023.

A native of France with a Ph.D. from HEC Montréal, Professor Rubel has presented at international conferences and published in leading journals, including Automatica and Advances in Dynamic Game Theory. Previously a visiting professor at Purdue University, he also authored a monograph for the French Ministry of Finance, exploring economic relations between Japan and China in Southeast Asia.
