Is entrepreneurship more beneficial for women?
In this video, Olenka Kacperczyk, Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School, explores how the returns to entrepreneurship compare with paid employment. Tracking earnings over a 30-year period, the research shows that women gain around 22% when moving into entrepreneurship, compared to around 8% for men. While women still earn less in absolute terms, the gender gap is smaller than in wage work. The findings highlight that entrepreneurship can be a pathway for women to better realise the returns to their skills, particularly where advancement barriers are steepest.
